These images are produced from capture to editing on my iPhone and my iPad on the move, in transit, and processed in various contexts (airplanes, waiting rooms, taxi, waiting for phone calls etc.).
They try to depict urban landscapes, following an almost “Piranesian” logic, seeking to hide any temporal and spatial references and suppressing the opposition between near and far from their framework horizons.
At the same time, all these photos, perhaps because of its creative and production context, seek to preserve, a particular noise peculiar to each of the urban situations portrayed, through the processess of manipulation and editing in the different applications used. The project combines two concerns: the urban landscape and the networked audiovisual. It investigates aesthetics of noise and the ways in which it dialogues with fragmented spaces and experiences we have of urban fractures.
The web specific version of #CidadESpelhadas puts into circulation some programming strategies that allow new online visualization processes, by confusing the boundaries between still and moving images in the process of figuring (something that is more and more recurrent). It was developed for the Unplace exhibition, at Gulbekian Foundation (Jun 19 – Nov 19 2015).
