Arte e Vanguarda na Internet is the title of the lecture series presented by CCBB, impeccably produced by Texto Intermídia.
The series, which has already taken place in Brasília—where I missed my appearance because of the volcano—now continues in Rio, where I am debating with Ivana Bentes, one of digital culture’s most interesting minds.
Today’s subject is web art.
I was asked for two things:
An offline presentation
A presentation focused on my own work
I confess that I find it enormously difficult to present and discuss the internet offline. And it has been quite some time since I gave presentations focused on my own works.
I decided to concentrate on projects whose epistemological horizon is network culture, but which are not projects for the internet, around two themes: emerging systems of authorship and new mapping practices.
Emerging systems of authorship will be discussed through situations involving the appropriation of advertising circuits, contexts of cybridization, remix, and temporary authorship.
New mapping practices will be presented through fluid cartographies and processes that reconfigure the notion of place, following the line of discussion proposed by Andre Lemos in his rereading of Bruno Latour.
The projects anchoring this discussion are:
