The Truths of Deepfakes: The use of artificial intelligence has been blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction, making it increasingly difficult to verify the authenticity of photographs and videos. While the ethics of digital manipulation are still being debated, programs invent plausible images with unpredictable political and social consequences. Known as deepfakes, these images are here to stay.
