Group on Artificial Intelligence and Art · University of São Paulo · Since 2019
GAIA is a network of researchers and artists investigating contemporary digital infrastructures through art and critical experimentation. Its projects explore artificial intelligence, its social implications and the possibilities of critically engaging with its code, drawing on perspectives from the Global South, Latin America and Brazil.
Coordinated by Giselle Beiguelman and Bruno Moreschi, the group is part of C4AI, the Artificial Intelligence Center at Inova USP. Since 2019, it has brought together academic research, artistic production, curatorial projects, performances, residencies and reading groups, in dialogue with universities, cultural institutions and collectives.
Its experiments include IApiranga, Genealogies of AI and Forms of the Possible, a series of images produced for Folha de S.Paulo’s RUF 2026 university ranking.
