I am launching Perturbadoramente Familiar, an artist’s book resulting from my trip to Poland and the project Quanto Pesa uma Nuvem?, at SP-Arte with Galeria Mezanino, and at Galpão VB. The launch takes place on April 6, from 7 to 10 p.m.

The work is a photobook-object incorporating a wooden box, postcards and a stamp. Recording a search for a narrative for my history without traces, the diary combines travel photographs with images from my family archive and blank pages, each individually stamped by me.
Organized around the doubts and questions that arose during the trip—“Is Warsaw Joy Division before Joy Division?” “Is there a blue the color of emptiness?” “What is it like to live where everything used to be?” “Where did Eastern Europe go?” “How do you count six million?” among many others—it is a discontinuous account of situations of belonging and cultural exclusion.
Perturbadoramente Familiar travels through Warsaw, Przemyśl and Dęblin, my grandparents’ cities, as well as Kraków, Łódź, Auschwitz and Będzin. I visited Poland in 2015 at the invitation of a program promoting Polish culture in Brazil, organized by Culture.pl. The trip resulted in the exhibition Quanto Pesa Uma Nuvem?, curated by Ana Pato and produced by Videobrasil.
