Since August — more precisely, since the Timthumb disaster — this site has been limping along.
I still haven’t managed to get organized again. I had to reformat the server (what a pain!), I’ve fallen out with MySQL (and what is life on WordPress without it?), but I decided at least to update this web corpse of mine with a few recent articles and essays.
Here they are:
My interview with Kenneth Goldsmith, founder and editor of the already legendary UbuWeb, about his new book — Uncreative Writing: Managing Language in a Digital Age (Columbia University Press, New York, 2011) — including an excerpt translated into Portuguese. Download: Copying is necessary, inventing is not
The article on the economic micropolitics of open-source money — The art of making money — in which I discuss initiatives such as Circuito Fora do Eixo, Time Notes by Argentine artist Gustavo Romano, and Paolo Cirio’s P2P Gift Credit Card, among several other projects and initiatives;
(these two texts were published in seLecT magazine, no. 1, August/September 2011)
My chapter “Territorialización y agenciamento en las redes (en busca de la Anna Karenina de la era de la mobilidad)”, published in the book Nomadismos Tecnológicos (Barcelona: Ariel, 2011), which I edited with Jorge La Ferla. The book first appeared in Spanish, and the Brazilian edition from Senac will arrive at the end of October;
Another: “Media Voices: Beyond Talking Heads”, published by MIT Press in V01ce: Vocal Aesthetics in Digital Arts and Media (Norie Neumark, Ross Gibson and Theo Van Leeuwen, eds., 2010)
And also: “Public Art in Nomadic Contexts”, in: Urban Screens Reader (Scott McQuire, Meredith Martin and Sabine Niederer, eds.), Amsterdam: Institute of Network Cultures, 2009
