Brejo das delícias explores the history of Ibirapuera Park through research into native species that preceded its urbanization. Based on botanical studies of São Paulo’s flora, around 50 species were identified as originally inhabiting its marshy grounds. Inspired by botanical illustrations, the creatures presented here were made with Artificial Intelligence, fusing the original species into new plant beings that come to life through Augmented Reality. In this way, they also address the diversity of technical images that populate our notions of nature and landscape.

Work commissioned by MAM-SP for the exhibition Realidades e Simulacros (July 22, 2023–January 28, 2024), curated by Marcus Bastos and Cauê Alves.
